About Us
A Thriving Congregation in Nashville, Tennessee
Mount Pisgah Church is a community of faith rooted in the love of God. We believe worship is not just found in prayer, it’s something expressed in everything we do. Our philosophy is deeply rooted in the Holy Scriptures. Come and join us to experience God’s love and grace for yourself. There’s a special place for you at our welcoming table.
We have deep historical roots in this community. In 1867, Jane Watson deeded land to several African-American families, many of them her former slaves. First called Watson Town, the community became known as Mt. Pisgah by 1871. The Methodist Episcopal Church North organized a church here in 1866 and bought an acre of land from William Holt in 1869 for a church and school building. The second church building, used 1916-1976, stood along the Owen & Winstead Pike, now Edmondson Pike.

In 1972, the members and Trustee of the church saw a greater need to expand. This was accomplished by building a new edifice on the previously purchased property that joined the old property. This property was the old Mount Pisgah Elementary School building. The new edifice was completed in 1979 under the pastorate of Reverend Jury E. Turner.

In 1995 the structure was dedicated and named in memory of Mr. Richard Tucker Sr., who was the architect of the present structure of Mount Pisgah Church.
A historical Marker was erected on October 14, 2001, which is the site of the 1916 building.
